A core focus of the Northwest Regional Office is broadening and strengthening support for our parks, especially among younger folks.
Young people have some of the most progressive, thought-provoking and expansive ideas about how to build community and move society forward, making them some of the most powerful agents of change. This inspired us to create the Northwest Student Leadership Council (NWSLC) and engage young people in national park protection by educating the community, business organizations and elected officials on the opportunities and challenges facing our national parks.
The NWSLC helps participants grow professionally and develop skill sets to connect with community leaders and elected officials, become more knowledgeable about advocacy and the political process, and gain the confidence to share their voices.
